LASU VCship: Ọmọ Èkó Pàtàkì Vows To Resist Attempt To Sideline Qualified Indigenes

A group under the aegis of Ọmọ Eko Pataki, on Monday, vowed to resist any attempt by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and others hiding behind fingers to muddle the processes for the appointment of a substantive #Vice-Chancellor for the Lagos State University LASU

Trustees of Ọmọ Eko Pataki, Major-General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (rtd), in a statement made available to Daily Independent, lamented that a simple procedure for the appointment has been so muddled up such that the Governor Sanwo-Olu interference had led to the cancellation of the exercise twice.

The statement titled:” Before the Puppeteer Draws the Curtain”, read: “We observe with dismay the attempt by Governor Jide Sanwoolu to obfuscate the facts, to muddle the truth in the ceaseless saga of appointing a qualified candidate for the Vice-Chancellor position of the Lagos State University, LASU.

“Despite his protestations, Sanwoolu has interfered for the umpteenth time in an otherwise simple, procedural arrangement. At least twice he has cancelled a concluded constitutional process, peremptorily dissolved a Governing Board, convoke all kinds of partisan maneuvers to ensure his preferred candidate is chosen as the 9th Vice-Chancellor of LASU.

The group cried out, “He is at it again. The puppet master is masking behind the scene, pulling the strings, as usual, pretending neutrality where he is a partisan. This is not fair. This is not right.

“We at Ọmọ Eko Pataki are deeply disturbed at what our dear state has been reduced to in the hands of politicians whose only interest is about personal pursuit. we are distrustful of any attempt to sideline well qualified, internationally recognized and well-deserving Lagosian Professors merely to favour party apparatchiks. It is wrong. It is unfair. It is unjust.

“The Ọmọ Eko Pataki will continue to speak out against all attempts to reduce Lagosians to mere chattels on their soil. We will continue to speak out against all injustices against our people.

And we will continue to resist with all legal tools those who manoeuvre in the dark to distort the truth. Governor Sanwoolu should do what is right and what is just by appointing a qualified indigene as the next Vice-Chancellor of LASU.

The group stated “Enough of all these political gymnastics. We are not fooled.”
