Monday, 19th March 2018 was yet a day kick start the new week as the Vice Chancellor, Prof Olanrewaju #Fagbohun hosted the leaders of five leading firms to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on partnerships to train Student's of the University in Entrepreneurial Skills in different fields of knowledge. The meeting took place at the instance of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies of the University, at the Vice Chancellor's Conference Room, Main Campus, Ojo

The Five organizations, Victor Eriabie & Associates (Grapho- Psychology), Aries SYSTEMSCOM Technical Engineering Ltd, ShelterCare Partners Ltd (Building Logistics), Westgate Resources Development Centre (Human Resource Dev), El-Zade Security and Technical Ltd (Security) were selected from a pool of other interested organizations by the CES to partner with the University in giving practical training to LASU Students who take the Entrepreneurship Course.

The partnership will give Students of the University opportunity to acquire practical training from leaders in different industries at no extra costs, in what is another effort of the University Management to give the LASU Students an edge over their contemporaries in the country.

As the Vice Chancellor, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun and his lieutenants, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Oyedamola Oke and the Registrar, Mr Lewis Akinwunmi signed the spiral binded documents at one end of the table, the leaders of the five firms who have been chosen by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies (CES) were signing the dotted lines at the other end.

After the signing exercise ended, the #LASU Numero Uno called the Companies representatives one after the other and with warm handshakes, presented the signed MoU to them.

That gesture signalled the birth of new partnerships and the writing of a fresh history in the 34 year old institution.

In the VC's words:

What we are trying to achieve is a model that #NUC will send people and say, let us copy the LASU model

When we talk about Entrepreneurship, it is not just teaching them theory

It's about giving them the practicals; that is why I am pleading with you, let's make this work

You should see this as wanting to make your profit and also recogniz the social service involved in this

We want our students to work with you

We will not just foist them on you. But they must be students who qualify on merit

We will make the process open for all of them to compete and the best chosen

See, we can't continue to blame Mr President

We must do things ourselves. Nobody is going to doubt for us

Our students today walk very tall. In every establishments, there are the good the bad and the ugly. In LASU, we have the pravelence of the good

Please believe in us. We want to make this work.

In their respective responses, the leaders of the partner firms were full of optimism for the project, thanking the University for the opportunity and assuring that within the next one year, Students of the Lagos State University and the institution as a whole will be the better for it.
