The Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun has charged all members of staff and students of the University to protect their collective achievements and not allow mischief makers to truncate the peace of the institution.

Prof Fagbohun also announced that the Tertiary Education Funds #TETFUND has approved the sum of three (3) billion naira as special intervention fund for the University.

Prof Fagbohun made the statements on Thursday, 2nd August, 2018 during a reception held in his honour by the University's Centre for General Nigerian Studies (CGNS)

Fagbohun said: "The achievements of the University in the last few years is because of our collective efforts. We have come this far and now is the time to protect what we have jointly built. We must not be timid. We must finish it together."

He also used the occasion to announce to the delight of the audience, the approval of 3 billion naira to the University by TETfund. "Just yesterday (Wednesday, 1st August, 201, I was at TETFUND office in Abuja and they have just approved 3billion naira as Special Intervention Fund to the University."

He went further to assure all stakeholders that better days are ahead of the institution. "When we didn't have enough, I always encouraged you to be patient. And when we have enough, we will jointly enjoy the goodies. Our University will not be the same again." He stated.

While giving his welcome address, the Director, CGNS, Prof Biodun Akinpelu, noted that the occasion was to celebrate exemplary leadership qualities of Prof Lanre Fagbohun. He stated that the 8th Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University was "...an embodiment of quality life and time and his qualities are robbing off on the total life of the University."

The Chairman of the Occasion, Justice Joseph Olubunmi Oyewole reiterated that the achievements of the Vice Chancellor in the last two years showed that he was indeed a man of exemplary leadership. "LASU used to be known for negative news. But Prof #Fagbohun has been able to turn around the fortunes of the University and we are very proud of him. He is a testimony to the fact that great things can be achieved in this country."

Other eminent personalities within and outside the University also praised the Akesan born Prince for his humility and leadership. They prayed for him to continue to succeed in his endeavors.

The event was attended by other members of the University Management and senior and junior members of staff from across faculties, departments and centres of the institution. Representatives of the world-class students of the University were also in attendance.

Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun, a Professor of Environmental Law, was recently elevated to the position of Senior Advocate Nigeria (SAN-designate).
