The Lagos State University Students' Union #LASUSU Publicity Committee on Wednesday, 10th October 2018 at the Hall 1 of the Lagos State University School of Communication (LASUSOC) held a Lecture titled "THE ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON THE LIFE OF AN ORGANISATION".

The first Speaker was the Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Lagos State, Mr. Oluwasegun MacMedal. He thanked the Organisers for the invitation, he said "...I am happy to be here as this is the first time of visiting Lagos State University." He educated all the Students' Public Relations Officer at various Levels in the University, the Social Media Platforms Handlers and Bloggers on the critical need for them to use the platforms to continue to push the frontiers of academic excellence at different stages of their academic career.

He equally described the event as a unique opportunity for him to be at the University of First Choice.

Both speakers unanimously commended the brilliant initiative of the 28th Public Relations Officer; Comrade Oshodi Mohammed and the Publicity Committee. They urged the students to build an online robust profile, showcase their personalities positively and use the social media platforms to provide practicable and workable solutions to the challenges facing the State and the Country as a whole.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. 'Lanre #Fagbohun, Ph.D, SAN, was represented by the Acting Dean, Students' Affairs; Dr. Oluwafemi #Obayori. He appreciated the coming together of the Public Relations Officers, Social Media Handlers and Bloggers for the unique lecture and urged them to further better the enviable image of the University.

The DSA further informed that the lecture topic was timely and apt, adding that leaders of this generation must be intelligent and pro - active. In addition, he commended the University Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations and the Students' Affairs for the role being played in the current University administration. He equally added that the participants should maximize the social media platforms for entrepreneurship activities to better their future.

The Dean, School of Communication; Prof. Rotimi Olatunji used the platform to request for the presence of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations at the Lagos State University. The Dean, Coordinator #CIPPR, the Representative of the Registrar and IPPRO encouraged the students to be positive in their approach to life and join the professional bodies to advance their course.

At the end of the close to Five (5) Hours Lecture, the Distinguished Speakers were presented with Appreciation Plaques while the Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations was equally presented with a Plaque. About Seventy (70) Students' Public Relations Officers, Social Media Handlers and Bloggers attended the all important lecture.

It was the very first time that a Lagos State University Students' Union (LASUSU) Publicity Committee will be organising a lecture of this grade.
