Sanwo-Olu: I Have No Interest In The Choice Of The Next LASU VC
The Visitor to the Lagos State University, LASU and Governor of the State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised not to meddle in the affairs towards selecting the substantive Vice-Chancellor for the Varsity.

At a courtesy visit at the Lagos House in Ikeja on Tuesday 7th September 2021 by members of the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, (CVCNU), Sanwo-Olu said he has no personal interest and will therefore not intervene to influence the process rather, due process will be followed.

In his words, “the process for the appointment of the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University, LASU is ongoing and I can assure you that all the laws and due process that would lead to the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor would be fully adhered to.”

Talking further, Sanwo-Olu opined, “I have no intention to interfere [neither do I] have any interest in the choice of who would be the Vice-Chancellor. We have put in the Committee men and women of impeccable character that have distinguished themselves and are willing to do for us a good job.”

Prof. Samuel Edoumiekumo, the Chairman of CVCNU gave kudos to the Governor towards delivering the dividends of democracy to Lagosians and rising to the occasion during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also called for the support of the Governor towards the Committee’s 60th anniversary in 2022.

In his reaction, Sanwo-Olu promised supporting them in getting back the title documents of the property at Idowu Taylor Street in Victoria Island at no cost. He also noted that plans towards establishing two new Universities of Technology and Education in the State are in top gears.
